I had words and pictures on my moodboard to represent different areas, I had a lot of friendship and mystical elements on my moodboard because they're the main themes in our film.

Adams mind thing

Credits

i think that the credits used should be in times new roman or some sort of mystical writing because the film is magical, a fantasy.
They should come in when each character is introduced, and whipe across the screen, because bronwin is introduced on her own.
Also because Harry and his friend are seen together with his friend, so if the credits are under when they are with their friends it shows that Bronwin is lonly, her credit comes up on its own where as i am with James Mackey and Luke Blunt.
The opening shot off harry isn't very long so the credits should be about around 2 to 4 seconds long depending how long the characters are on screen.

Opening Credits

My idea on the opening credits was to have the camera doing an establishing shot over the playground, watching all the different children playing various games together, I want it to show the happiness and the diversity of all the kids; then as the credits come to an end we’re introduced to a more unhappy side to playground life.

I imagine the writing to be white but depending on the colours black might be more appropriate and visible. I can see the credits going in the bottom left corner, I would like them just fading in and out very slightly when changing. For the font I think it should link in with the theme of the film like we did with the music, we would need to keep it mysterious but clear in order for the kids to read, perhaps a few like these: Monotype Corsiva, Pristina, Vivaldi.

Opening Credits

I think that our opening credits should use a script like font to give it a kind of oldish feel to it this will go hand in hand with the magical element of our film. The credts should dissolve into the first scene bit by bit so that the whole thing is properly incorperated into out establishing shot. The text itself, I think should be white with a kind of outer glow to represent the innocense that is a childrens film. The credits should be kind of like these exept using a dissolve effect instead of the sliding motion, also our credits might use transparency in a simislar way; just for eye candy.

Obviously because our work is going to be so time restricted we will want to put as much as possible into a short space of time, so it'll be best all 'round if the titles are linked into the first scene rather than isolating them from the actual film.

Childrens film opening credits

In our opening I think we should dissolve the credits, line by line, into the establishing shot where the camera pans across a bench area. I was thinking that the font style should be similar to this one because it captures the magical concept of the film that we are trying to create. The font colour would be best to be any colour that stands out against the background. The alignment should be at the very bottom and either close up against the right hand side of the shot or close up against the left hand side of the shot, not in the middle. The only effect to be used is possibly bold and only then to make the credits stand out further from the background. The size of the text would need to be large, most likely large enough to cover 1/4 of the page in height.

21 October - Childrens Film Progress

Due to the rainy weather, we were unable to film the rest of our opening, instead we focused on the soundtrack in the first few seconds. We managed to create a magical theme that we can play over the first scene. We have also created a theme for the last scene. Next lesson we hope to continue filming, if we cannot film because of the weather again, we will have to change our plans and redo some of the filming we have done inside.

20th October - Childrens Film Progress

Today we managed to film most of scene 2 and all of scene 6. We were unable to film most of the other scenes because of technical difficulties and lack of people we could film. Tomorrow we can film some additional scenes that we were unable to film today.

Spy Kids 2 Opening

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhXCFNDwdKw

I chose to do a spy kids film as I think it's appropriate for what we have chosen to do for our opening, both ideas share a lot in common and have similar factors. One thing both spy kids and our film has in common is the fact the plot and action all revolves around kids of a similar age to the audience although in spy kids the main characters are looked up to, they're cool and all kids want to be them and live their lives, the difference with our film is the characters are more realistic and viewers can relate to their situations. Both spy kids and our film have both a girl and a boy as the main characters which is a great technique used to draw in a wider audience. In spy kids they use lots of fun gadgets which all kids get excited about, I remember dreaming about being a spy with my made up gadgets after watching this film!

The music in this is very churpy and fun at the start, not to take too seriously, keeps it very light hearted. When the spys come in though the music changes to alert the audience that these two are important as the music becomes more upbeat and James Bondy.

this is our storyboard.

this is our mindmap/ timeline of whats happening.

High School Musical 3 opening

The begining of high school musical 3 is very eye catching for young children and older people depending on what you like, its not just for young girls, it appeals to both genders, all my friends LOVE IT ;).
the opening scene is very lively, whilst girls like Troy Bolton, young boys like the fact their playing basketball. Troy comes across as hero like, especially when the first song kicks in. its totally upbeat, the build up in the music and the solo by Gabriella.
The music gets the audience excited. not only the singing but the dancing and playing of basketball all ties in with the upbeat atmosphere. It doesnt appeal to adults as much because it is cheesy. e.g. when gabriella suddenly stands up out of the crowd and has a heart to heart solo with troy.
lighting is also a bigger factor in the livelyness, camera flashes, and colourful lights tieing in with the music. its all glamerous.

Music (Garageband)

The music for our project will incorporate a magical element to it; generally this will be classical sounds i.e. bells, chimes etc... We want the sounds to resemble those of other similar films such as Harry Potter. These sounds will cover the first few scenes and we will most likely have something similar played when the 'mysterious' item is introduced. We might also have something rather mellow playing in the background to empasise the loneliness felt by the girl in the first few shots.

Analysis of childrens film opening.

I chose to do Charlie and the Chocolate factory(2005)

This clip appeals to children by using animation at the beginning whilst the credits rolled over, this was effective because by using the childs imagination, it seems more real for them; I don't think our group can reflect on this because we should be doing most of the opening in live action. Through the animation in the first half of the introduction, a golden ticket is shown inside a chocolate bar, this is effective because it is shown to be important and can be easyly understood by the target audience; We can reflect from this by having the story laid out in the beginning of the film so it can be understood easyly. After the camera has shown a 'Willy Wonka' van go past the main character, Charlie, we hear a voiceover and this tells us who the main character and that he is the 'good guy', the target audience will also like this because of its simplicity and helps the child get sucked into the story. We can reflect on this final point by establishing our good and bad characters are as soon as we can.

Finalised ideas for childrens film

It's set in school where we are introduced to our main characters Katie and Jesse. Katie is a shy gentle character who plays on her own hoping one day she will be loved; Jesse is more of the opposite, popular, the class clown. Both characters share a negative relationship, Jesse continuously teasing Katie craving her attention. One time she is walking alone again, upset and in pain, when she notices a glowing book in the distance, so enlightened she is lured into this magical item she goes to pick it up but Jesse spots it too and is determined to beat her to it, both of them grab it at the same time, transporting them to a secret realm. In this land it's full of adventure and obstacles for the two of them to get past, gripping and appealing to both genders. At first they spend a lot of the time arguing but when they realise they need to help one another a bond grows and a friendship is developed. They are not alone in this place which is the biggest obstacle they face, they were secretly joined by an outcast child whom no-one knows, later do they learn that he is a monster in disguise and his plan all along was to trap them in this dangerous world. They must defeat him together in order to escape, it gets very close but Katie gets hurt which charges Jesse up giving him the power to win. Together they escape; Jesse no longer teases her and Katie becomes more confident and makes new fiends, together they 'fall in love' and the audience is given their happy ending...

Back to the Future Storyboard

Harry worked on the camera shots, Bronwen worked on Music/sound effects and Adam worked on character positioning. I think this has helped our group in working as a team, we all worked on different parts and linked what we found together as a group. This has also shown us better how to storyboard and all come up with ideas instead of one or two people just sitting there doing everything, it takes the pressure off and makes the task seem easier and more relaxed.

Group 72 Childrens Film Opening

Our ideas
We will be doing a live action fantasy/adventure film.
Our main characters will be a boy, girl and villain.

Plot
A boy teases a girl which causes upset between them when actually he is only teasing her because he doesn't know how to act around her and does in fact fancy her. The girl finds a precious and mysterious item on the floor which he notices and steals from her which teleports them both to a secret realm. The audience are there to think that the boy is the baddy but as the story goes on another child is revealed to be the real villain who follows them into the secret realm; later we find out this child is actually some sort of evil monster in disguise.
